Torgau and Saxony

The region of Saxony, in eastern Germany, is made up of castles, ancient mansions, glorious parks and gardens, but, more importantly, it is where the town of Torgau can be visited. Torgau became a significant location by the end of WWII: here the first meeting between American and Soviet forces took place on April 25, 1945. This meeting marked an important step towards the end of the war in Europe. Witness in Torgau a unique historic location and walk through a medieval city centre which contains about 500 ancient monuments preserved from past times.
