In 2020, 75 years of liberation will be celebrated in the Netherlands.
In this context, an 8-day Memorial Bicycle Tour is organised in the Apeldoorn area. Because of its unique central location in The Netherlands, Apeldoorn is the base of this trip from day 1. Participants in this tour are present at the commemorations of war victims.
Everyone is welcome to sign up for this trip.
Every fifth year as of 1985 the “Stichting Bevrijding ‘45” has organised a Parade with Canadian Veterans and Veterans from other allied forces on the Loolaan and Kerklaan in Apeldoorn. For 2020, the foundation has largely completed the program of the festival.

In August 1944 the Allies broke out of Normandy. The speed of the allied advance was so great that they outran their supply lines. In early September the advance came to a halt. The Allies desperately needed a large port to supply their troops and the obvious choice was Antwerp.
