Ils débarquent (they land) is a travelling exhibition set up by the D-Day Omaha Museum to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landing in Normandy.
The exhibit, which gathers pieces from the Omaha Beach D-Day Museum’s collection, will be shown in two communes in the Normandy region. After the first presentation in Granville (19-28 April), the exhibit can be discovered at Omaha Beach Camping from May 3 to August 30.
This exhibition of more than 1200 square meters pays tribute to the sacrifices of the soldiers of D-Day. It also aims to demonstrate how objects can testify and tell the personal stories of men who sacrificed their lives.
Omaha the bloody was undoubtedly the most deadly and emblematic of the landing beaches. Facing the sea above Omaha, housed in a vintage American hospital in the town of Vierville sur Mer, unique memories of the landing are kept alive. For the first time, this structure holds exceptional pieces, never shown to the public before, as part of a travelling exhibition across France.
Price is 7 €. Free for children under 3 years.
