Liberation celebration Schijnvliegveld de Kiek: Celebrate and experience together! As part of 80 years of liberation and the 5th anniversary of reliving Schijnvliegveld de Kiek, the Friends of the Kiek are organising a two-day liberation festival at Schijnvliegveld de Kiek. We will bridge the gap between the present and the past with all kinds of things to see and experience. The programme is intended for young and old and admission is free! There will be demonstrations by various organisations and re-enactment. Various local and national organisations will hold demonstrations and provide information. We will ensure that both old and new times can be experienced on the ground and in the air. It promises to be another unique weekend with various spectacular parts.
Saturday 26 October at least re-enactment, information market including the Veterans Search Team, Gilze-Rijen airbase tradition room, Stichting dodenherdenking Alphen, Fliegerhorst Venlo, Crash Museum 40-45, exhibition of artworks by artists and primary school pupils. The day starts with the unveiling of a monument to the downed Vicker Wellington bomber. Delegations from the Embassy of New Zealand and Germany will be present during the commemoration. The province of North Brabant and the Royal Air Force will also be represented.
On Sunday 27 October, we will start with a liberation orchestra with the Senioren orkest Midden-Brabant and fanfare Euterpe. They will celebrate freedom with music from the 40s and 45s. Afterwards, there will again be reenactment, various activities during the information market and exhibition by artist and primary school pupils.
